Hey there, snifflers and sneezers! Dean Benson here, ready to talk about something that can put a serious damper on your summer, the dreaded summer cold. Yup, nothing says “buzzkill” like getting sick when you should be soaking up the sun and living your best life. I am in the middle of one, I think started with my allergies running rampant, and then developing into a full-blown cold. (Thank God it’s not the dreaded “Vid-o-rific”) So, let’s look at why summer colds can be a major bummer and how you can kick that cold to the curb as fast as humanly possible.
Why Summer Colds Feel Worse
- Heat and Humidity: The heat and humidity make everything feel worse. Congestion and fever are no fun when you’re already sweating bullets. Even here in Phoenix, AZ. where the humidity is practically null, it is still uncomfortable as it can be.
- Disrupted Plans: Nobody wants to miss out on summer BBQs, pool parties, beach trips, and all the outdoorsy stuff. A cold can really mess with your plans and leave you feeling left out and miserable.
- Allergy Confusion: Summer allergies can mimic cold symptoms, making it tough to know what’s really going on. That can lead to trying the wrong remedies and feeling crummy for longer. (Hello, did I say that a second ago?) I am sure that is what is going on with me.
