My Family Isn’t Getting Along Well, What Can I Do?
Hi, once again, all my friends, family, foes, fiends, and all you funky folks.
Family — can’t live with ’em, can’t shoot ’em, right? But what happens when your family feels more like a group of strangers sharing a last name than a well-oiled crew? Maybe there’s underlying tension, political differences, misunderstandings, or just a general lack of connection. If you’re nodding along thinking, “Yep, that’s us,” don’t worry — you’re not alone, ever.
Families sometimes, go through phases. Sometimes everyone’s on the same page, laughing together, supporting each other. Other times? It’s like herding penguins while wearing roller blades — messy, frustrating, and probably a ton of pain. So, if your family isn’t in sync right now, let’s talk about what you can do to bring some harmony back into the mix.
1. Acknowledge the Disconnect (Without Blame or Judgement)
First things first — you gotta recognize the issue and why there is one. Pretending everything’s fine, glossing over it, when it’s not won’t help. But here’s the key: don’t point fingers. Instead of saying, “You never listen!” try, “I feel like we’re not as connected as we used to be, how do we fix us?”
