The Things That Used To Bring Me Joy & Pleasure Don’t Anymore, Why?
Hi, once again, all my friends, family, foes, fiends, and all you funky folks.
Didja’ ever had one of those moments where you sit back, stare at your record collection (or Spotify playlists, for you more modern folks), and think, “Man, why doesn’t this hit like it used to?” Or maybe it’s not just music — maybe it’s hobbies, food, even hanging out with certain people. Things that once lit you up like a Christmas tree now feel… meh/so-so.
What the hell happened to the fun/joy/pleasure?
If you’re nodding along, don’t worry — you’re not broken. You’re just evolving. And today, I want to dig into why the things that used to bring us joy, but don’t always stick around for the encore.
Over Time, You’ve Changed (And That’s Okay)
Newsflash: You’re not the same person you were five, ten, or twenty years ago. (If you are, we need to talk — hit me up at DeanBensonRocks@gmail.com)
Our tastes, priorities, and even our brain chemistry shifts over time. That band you worshipped in high school? Maybe their lyrics now feel simplistic or deluded. That hobby you loved? Maybe it no longer challenges you, or you just can’t do it anymore for fear of injury or it just bores you.
