The Vein That Keeps Me On My Toes: My Journey with Eye Injections

Hey everyone, it’s Dean Benson here, with a story that’s a little different from my usual “stuff”. Today, I want to share something personal about my health. You know me — I’m usually all about mental health, cars, music, the laughs, and the good vibes, but sometimes life throws a wicked knuckleball, and you’ve got to roll with it. So, let’s talk about my left eye and the occluded vein that requires a bit of “OW!” every 8–10 weeks.

Discovering the Problem

It all started a while back when I noticed my vision was weird, I woke up from a nap one afternoon, and had a blockage in my vision. Let’s just say it was a bit funky. I mean, when you’re used to reading tiny liner notes on classic rock albums, while spinning, you notice these things! My left eye seemed to have a real problem. My wife said she thought i was having an ocular migraine, so I took some Advil, and another nap. That didn’t do it. I decided it was time to see a professional.

Enter Dr. Itty, a top-notch retinal specialist who quickly diagnosed me with an occluded vein in my left eye (in other words a stroke). In layman’s terms, this means there’s a blockage in one of the veins that helps drain blood from the eye. Not a great situation, but definitely manageable…
